Terms of use and disclaimer
Garnishment Calc is free to use. These terms explain what its results are, what they are not, and the limits of our responsibility.
Estimates, not legal advice
The calculator shows the maximum amount the cited statutes allow to be withheld from the paycheck you describe. It is an educational estimate based on the information you enter and the law as we read it on the verified date. It is not legal advice, does not create any professional relationship, and is not a substitute for the order you were served or for advice from a lawyer or legal-aid office about your situation.
Why your actual amount may differ
The amount your employer withholds is set by the order it received and the employer’s own payroll calculation. It can be lower than our figure because a court reduced it, because you claimed an exemption, because another order has priority, or because a state applies a rule we describe but cannot compute (such as a hardship reduction). It can appear higher if an order is for support, taxes or a federal student loan, which follow different rules — choose the matching mode. If an employer withholds more than the law allows, the court that issued the order is the place to raise it.
Accuracy and updates
We read each figure from a primary source and show the date we verified it. Laws and rates change; when a dated figure expires before we have verified its replacement, the calculator asks you for the official figure instead of guessing. Where a state’s official text could not be retrieved, the page says so and shows the federal ceiling. Please report anything that looks wrong through the corrections form.
Use of the site
You may use the calculator and share links to results for personal, non-commercial purposes, and quote short passages with a link back. Do not use automated tools to copy the site in bulk, interfere with its operation, or submit false correction reports. Statute quotations are from public law and remain public.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its results. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this paragraph may not apply to you.
