Idaho Wage Garnishment Calculator
Idaho copies the federal limit into state law: 25% of disposable earnings or the amount above $217.50 a week, whichever is less.
Idaho’s statute and its support limits
- For pay periods other than a week, the Idaho commissioner of labor prescribes the equivalent multiple of the federal minimum wage.§1
- Support orders may take 50% of disposable earnings if you support another spouse or child, 60% if you do not, plus 5 points when arrears are more than 12 weeks old.§1
- The limit has not changed since 1982; Idaho’s minimum wage equals the federal $7.25, so even if a full-time minimum-wage worker’s entire $290 week were disposable, no more than $72.50 could be taken.§1
The text of § 11-207
the maximum amount of the aggregate disposable earnings of an individual for any work week which is subjected to garnishment shall not exceed (a) twenty-five per cent (25%) of his disposable earnings for that week, or (b) the amount by which his disposable earnings for that week exceed thirty (30) times the federal minimum hourly wage
A Boise semimonthly paycheck
Idaho’s labor commissioner sets the multiple for non-weekly pay, which for a twice-monthly check works out to 65 hours of $7.25 — $471.25. A Boise worker grossing $1,300.00 with $140.00 withheld has $1,160.00 disposable; a quarter is $290.00, and that is the garnishment because it is less than the $688.75 above the floor.
